First Alliance Church began in the final years of the 19th century,
1897 to be exact. A little group of deeply committed Christians began
to meet in downtown Wilmington. They were captivated by the message
and mission of A.B. Simpson of New York city. His vision was to reach
unreached people with the whole gospel for the whole man in
the whole world. That compelling goal was coupled with a full-orbed,
message that focused on Jesus as Savior, Sanctifier, Healer and Coming
King.
Believers from a variety of church backgrounds came together to pray
for missionaries, raise funds for their support, recruit new candidates
to go to "the regions beyond," and send them to Simpson's
Missionary Training Institute in New York. In addition, this band of
believers reached out to friends and family with the message of Christ's
redemptive love. People were saved, families restored, lives transformed
and God gradually raised up a body of believers dedicated to Christ
in His fullness with a view of "bringing back the King."
In the early years the little band of believers moved around like the
children of Israel, from one rented hall to another, from tent meetings
to the Red Man's lodge. Eventually they were able to purchase a house
on 504 West 5th Street, which they made into their permanent church
home. Later the "Wilmington Alliance Church" moved uptown
to 29th and Van Buren Street in 1957 where it remained until moving
to the present location in 1984. While the name was changed to First
Alliance Church and our address is 2145 Graves Road; Hockessin, DE,
our vision is the same: to be Great Commission Christians, committed
to glorifying God by building His church worldwide.
MISSION STATEMENT

through worship, fellowship, discipleship, evangelism and world missions.
VISION STATEMENT
